These quilts were entered as a set into the
American Quilters Society (AQS) 2007 Ultimate Guild Challenge. 
The set was chosen as the First Place winner in the juried AQS challenge. 

The guild-imposed rules of the challenge were that the quilts had to use a "fruit" theme and be approximately 40 by 52 inches.  The quiltmakers, from left to right were (Row 1 and then Row 2, left to right):

• "Tutti-Fruitti New York Beauty (Oh, Routti)" by Jenny Chiovaro.  Designed, pieced, and machine quilted by J. Chiovaro.  Variation on the New York Beauty and Flying Geese traditional blocks using EQ-6 as a design tool.  Completed March 19, 2007.

• "Apple of My Eye" by Susan H. Garman.  A realistic pictoral of my grand daughter.  Background is machine pieced; pictorial and words are hand appliqued.  Hand quilted.

• Grapes by Beth Johnson.  Original quilt design, machine pieced, machine appliqued, and machine quilted.  It includes needle felting and fiber embellishments.

• Pineapple by Georgann Wrinkle.  Original design, machine pieced, hand appliqued, hand quilted.

• Lemons by Patty Mayer.  Original design.  Machine pieced, hand appliqued.  The quilting incorporates beautiful trapunto quilting.

• "Imperial Plums" by Sandra Thompson.  Hand appliqued and machine quilted by Sandra in 2007.  Design idea came from "Crate Labels" by Dover books.

• "Pineapple Salsa" by Trudy Davis.  Machine pieced and hand quilted by Trudy.  This piece started as a practice piece for a Hawaiian quilt.

• "Strawberry Fields" by Karen Watts.  Original design; machine pieced, machine appliqued, and machine quilted.  It was inspired by a mosaic in Central Park in the Strawberry Fields Memorial to John Lennon.  Various quotes attributed to John Lennon are printed on the fabric around the medallion.
