Green Tea and Sweet Beans
The Quilt
The quilt is based on the pattern "Green Tea and Sweet Beans" by Jen Kingwell. The guild received permission from the artist to use her pattern as our 2023 raffle quilt. It was constructed from a Stitchin' Heaven block-of-the-month set generously donated by Jonnie Nottingham. Be sure to thank her for her support of Lakeview Quilters Guild.
Construction of the blocks, applique of the borders, and assembly of the top was a group effort involving many guild members. Lee Ann Lively added the custom machine quilting and biding.
The Quilt
Georgann Wrinkle took the lead of the committee to design and coordinate the construction of the 2021 quilt. The patterns were generously donated by Lisa Bongean from her books Urban Farmhouse Gatherings and Farmhouse Gatherings. The quilt is two sided. There are pieced blocks on the front and embroidered blocks on the back. Jerrianne Evans, Marsha Fuller, Barbara Hutchins and Georgann made packets for each row of the front side and requested stitchers to gather at Ronda Stockton’s retreat house And Sew It Began. Those answering the call were Cherwyn Breaux, Penny Coleman Darla Cooper, Cyndi Draughon, Jerrianne Evans, Marsha Fuller, Marci Henry, Barbara Hutchins, Mona Keegan, Pat Koester, Patty Lang, Sharon Meyer, Rebecca Prather, Merridy Pyer, Ronda Stockton, and Georgann Wrinkle. The top was completed in one day. The embroidery work on the stars on the back of the quilt was stitched by Georgann. Marci Henry quilted the quilt, and Patty Dillon put the finishing touches by binding the quilt.
The Fabric
The fabrics were generously donated by Sherrie and Charlie Thomas of Painted Pony ‘n Quilts. Be sure to thank them for their generosity and support when you visit their shop.
